Andrew and I were able to spend a week with Leonard on the Turtle Mountain Reservation in North Dakota, where we were joined by Dan Merrival, Chase Iron Eyes, Tokata Iron Eyes, and Grandma Iron Eyes, who hadn't seen Leonard since his incarceration some fifty years ago.

The program was led by Duke’s Courtney Lewis, Associate Professor in Cultural Anthropology, and enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
The panel also featured special guest, Chase Iron Eyes, who is an attorney, activist, and member of the Oglala Lakota and Standing Rock Sioux Tribes.
